Anyone else like cheese on their curry?

  1. When my wife and I visited Hawaii once, we went to a curry restaurant and they offered grated cheese on top. I thought it was strange since I never had that when I lived in Japan. My wife said that it's not that uncommon. So I tried it and LOVED it! You wouldn't think it would be good, but it was. Now when we have curry night at home (which usually last over 4 nights) we often put grated cheese on top. Just pre-shredded cheddar/jack mix is good.

  2. The only people who don't are people who haven't tried it.

I skip the cheddar and go straight for the Jack. Put it right onto the sauce and it melts right in.

  3. I made curry rice for a group of friends tonight, using the House Vermont "Hot" mix from my local Asian grocery. It wasn't really hot at all, but it was delicious and clearly superior to the S&B Golden Curry, which I have made before.

Per Chris's insistence, I also grated Monterey Jack cheese and explained to my bewildered guests (including a Japanese friend who'd never heard of the cheese thing) that it came very highly recommended. And sure enough, we all loved the cheese on our curry.
